Q:
Is there an Handset Manager version that can work for all
mobile phones ?
A :
No. Because the data communication protocol is different on each
mobile phone, we use different Handset Manager for different mobile
phones. With very similar user interface, however, the Handset Manager
is different in the data communication layer for various phones.
Q:
Why is it some Handset Manager need to install the MA-600
Infrared Device Driver, while some Handset Manager need to disable
it ?
A :
For NOKIA 61xx series, 8210 and 8850 phones,
the Handset Manager use proprietary protocol to communicate to the
phone. The protocol are built-into the Handset Manager, so there
is no Infrared Device Driver needed. Because the Infrared Device
Driver use the same physical COM port as the Handset Manager for
NOKIA 61xx, 8210 and 8850, the Infrared Device Driver must be disabled
first to avoid port conflict. For others mobile phones like NOKIA
7110, SIEMENS S25 and MOTOROLA L series, the communication
protocol follow the IrDA standards, the Handset Manager use Infrared
Virtual COM port to communicate to the phone. The MA-600 Infrared
Driver must be installed and enabled in this case.
Q:
Why is it when I launch Handset Manager, the connection
with my mobile phone cannot be established and the status bar displays
"Try to connect to the handset…"?
A :
Please refer the the MA-600 and Handset Manager Troubleshooting
Guide.
Q :
When I run Handset Manager under Windows 95, why does the
error message "A required .DLL file, OLEPRO32.dll, was not find."
or other file missing error message appear?
A :
Handset Manager utilizes newer version of "Windows Common Control"
components. If your system is Windows 98 or Windows 95 but has IE3.0
or newer version installed, the components are already in the system.
For very original Windows 95 without IE3.0 or above version installed,
please install the Microsoft Internet Explorer before you use the
software.
Q :
Why does my mouse slow down and malfunction when I use
Handset Manager?
A :
It is possible that other program such as the infrared drivers is
using the COM port. Close or disable that program.
