Although the cable is suitable for all iPods with dock connectors it is especially useful for 3G iPods that cannot charge using USB2.0. This cable is designed so that you can simultaneously transfer data and recharge your iPod. Although the cable is suitable for all iPods with dock connectors it is especially useful for 3G iPods that cannot charge using USB2.0. It also gives you the flexibility to choose which connection method you use. If you have a 4G or iPod mini then you only need to use one of the cable connectors, USB2.0 or Firewire, depending on your system setup. If you have an earlier 3GiPod then insert the USB2.0 connector into your host computer's USB2.0 port and connect the Firewire connector into the iPod power adaptor that came with your iPod.
