One Of The Lucky Ones is a Hong Kong dramatic work in 1994. It is adapted from a real moving story. Based loosely on the true story of Ching Man-fai, the first visually impaired Chinese woman who, against all odds, has attained a university degree in the 1950s. On one hand, the story of Man-fai is about her struggles against the prejudices of an intolerant society reinforced by economic hardship of the times. Equally important, it is the story of her family servant Sister Wor - her wet-nurse as well as the family’s cook and laundry maid, and so much more. As Man-fai grew up, Sister Wor also became her confidant her mentor, ultimately her emotional anchor. The film’s Chinese title Walk With Me is both Sister Wor’s assurance to Man-fai that she was by no means inferior, and Man-fai’s plead to Sister Wor as she finally faced with having to be independent by going abroad to study.
