Based on the life and career of boxer Jake LaMotta, Raging Bull focuses on Jake’s rage and violence that makes him virtually unstoppable in the ring. The same anger also drives Jake to beat his wife and his brother Joey, and sends Jake down a self-destructive spiral of paranoia and rage. Jake LaMotta a.k.a. the “Bronx Bull”, is a boxer whose psychological and sexual complexities erupt into violence both in and out of the ring. At the center of his storm is his brother (Joe Pesci, Good Fellas) who falls prey to Jake’s mounting paranoia and jealousy, and the fifteen-year-old girl (Cathy Moriarty, Cop Land) who becomes his most prized trophy....and unhealthy obsession.
