In the DDU1613 DVD-ROM drive, Sony has implemented an improved mechanism to enhance the stability of the drive while playing an unbalance/uneven disc. This enhanced "Sony Advanced Spindle" (SAS) mechanism ensures that the disc and reading laser will be synchronized and read evenly on the surface of the disc.
