Directed by A Brighter Summer Day's Golden Horse-winning screenwriter Hung Hung, fanciful sci-fi romance The Wall-Passer holds up the Taiwanese cinema tradition of youth arthouse. This strange and strangely philosophical fantasy follows 17-year-old Tye (Chang Yung Cheng) who lives a humdrum life with his parents. Forced to evacuate after an earthquake on planet G40, they move to Reality City where Tye continues his bored routine of daydreaming and playing on his computer keyboard. One day he discovers a special rock that affords him the power to pass through walls. Soon after he meets and falls in love with a deaf alien girl (Lee Chia Ying). After she disappears, he passes through his bedroom wall to an alternate world where he meets a mysterious blind girl (Jozie Lu).
