Jackie Chan wanted to film a quiet, intimate drama about the lives of a group of illegal car racers in Hong Kong. Jackie, a car-racing enthusiast, completes his education in Japan, and then returns to Hong Kong to work in his father’s garage. In a police raid on illegal car racing, Jackie assists the police in successfully arresting an illegal racer, Cougar, who is also the leader of a criminal gang. As a result of the publicity from this escapade, a TV reporter, Amy Ip, takes an interest in Jackie’s story. She plans to develop a personal relationship with him in order to get the exclusive story. Cougar, who has now been detained, sends his men to threaten Jackie. In order to protect his family from being hurt, Jackie makes a false statement exonerating Cougar, to Steve, an International Police Officer who has been investigating Cougar’s case.
